Current Makeup Loves... Step by Step
December 2, 2019
I get a lot of questions about my make up and how I apply it and believe it or not I have had the HARDEST time with my make up lately! Im not an expert by any means I just really enjoy playing around with new brands and creating different looks.
I know a lot of it goes back to skin care routines which I definitely need to step up on my game on. But ya know what, this momma is tired! The last thing I want to do at night, after I put my kids to bed and I've enjoyed a glass of wine or two, is spend 45 minutes in the bathroom washing, drying, exfoliating, conditioning, vitamin C-ing, tanning...it goes on and on. So I blame a lot of my issues on that however I have recently switched up a few ways I've been applying my make up and that has made a HUGE difference.

I normally have combination skin which means I'm oily in my T-zone and dryer on my cheeks. So in the morning I do TRY to wash my face off with water. (I know my esthetician is cringing right now). Then I will apply a very small amount of moisturizer. I really like THIS ONE. I let that air dry for a few minutes the the magic happens.
#1 PRIMER- Skip it! | | I actually haven't found a primer I like or feel like it works. I feel like my face gets "slippery" after I apply my foundation over it. Does anyone else feel this way? I would go like 6 hours into my work day and look in the mirror and my make up completely separated on my face! It looked like a muddy, splotchy mess. So embarassing!
#2 FOUNDATION AND SETTING | | I do have acne scars, sun spots and discoloration on my skin so needless to say I'm a full coverage kind of girl. I have always LOVED THIS ONE and still love it but recently tried THIS FOUNDATION and its transformed my skin. I use the shade Khaki and it gives me the perfect sun kissed color. I do use these TANNING FACE DROPS about 3-4 times a week to help maintain the color as well. Note, make sure to exfoliate prior to applying the drops and mix a little bit with your nightly moisturizer. When you wake up, your skin will looks like you've visited St. Thomas. As far as concealer, I've tried many different kinds. Some are too drying and leave my skin crepey looking some don't give me enough coverage but this one has been a favorite for about 3 years... FAVORITE CONCEALER in Light Neutral. Next step is MY SECRET WEAPON . This is what makes my skin look so airbrushed. I apply it with THIS BEAUTY BLENDER and even let it set on the parts of my face that crease a lot. I.e. my smile lines and under eyes and lightly dusted around the entire face.
#3- EYE SHADOW & LINER | | THIS ONE HAS BEEN MY GO-TO FOR YEARS. It has the best neutral colors for my brown eyes. I usually use one color from each line. Starting with a lighter color on the top of the palette all over the eye. 2nd and 3rd line I'll use these in my crease and blend them together. 4th or 5th line I like to use these on the outer "V" of my eye- creating a cat eye effect. Then if I'm feeling a little extra ill apply some lighter/sparkly Champagne color on my lid. As far as EYELINER I swear by this one. It goes on smoothly and dries quickly also the tip isn't too thick so it gives you extra precision when it comes to the wing. Lastly, and yes I know this is SOOOO extra but I love applying THESE LASHES. I like a dramatic eye and you can't have a dramatic eye without some falsies.
#4 CONTOUR & SETTING SPRAY | | For contour, I found out that cream contour doesn't work for my skin so I use THIS POWDER BRONZER in the color "Saddle". For blush I use this $8 BLUSH PALETTE and finally just so I make sure it doesn't move I love to use SETTING SPRAY.
